As winter’s darkness closes in
We gather here within
To hear a word of hope and peace
To stir our hearts again.

Though short the day and long the night
We know we walk in light:
God’s light brings peace, hope, joy, and love,
To drive away the night.

We light this candle as a sign
Of hope, of peace and joy,
A living symbol of the light,
Of God’s unending love.
